  • The system shall allow the user to add new events to the events listing, and delete events if their role allows access.

  • The system shall allow users to view a list of events.

  • The system shall allow the user to record attendance/participation information [1] for league and team events, and shall make the reports of this information available to users whose roles allow access.

  • The user shall be able to adjust the eligibility [2] criteria, if her role allows this function.

  • The user shall be able to generate attendance and eligibility reports by player, or event; access shall be based on the user’s role.

This design offers users the ability to access and update important league information via their mobile device. It focuses on accessibility and usability. It uses a deep organization system in order to minimize the information shown on the screen at one time. It will remain simple in both functionality and in the interface design. The content organization and processes will remain consistent across roles, with the only difference being access to additional information for some higher-level roles. Consistent organization and simplicity of functionality and user interface will reduce the cognitive load required for both learning and using the system. These decisions were made based on the users desires for the system.

The users stated that their most desired system functions were:

  • “Being able to contact the skater through the app and to enter and get current standing in real time.”

  • “Organized, easy to use, everyone who needs to access it can access it.”

  • “Better ways to track all derby related activities.”

  • “Immediate feedback in % of attendance in League and team.”

  • “It would be nice to [be able to] do everything in one place.”

This design satisfies all of these requirements by being mobile, role-based, and comprehensive.
